自慢ですが、「ウリゾーンの万有距離空間」という日本語を最初に使ったのは私らしいです。
数値計算の観点からは、$a\not=0$ かつ $b\gt0$ のとき $x$ の二次方程式\[ax^2+bx+c=0\]の解は\[x=-\frac{b+\sqrt{b^2-4ac}}{2a}, -\frac{2c}{b+\sqrt{b^2-4ac}}\]で計算するほうが、解の公式\[x=\frac{-b\pm\sqrt{b^2-4ac}}{2a}\]をそのまま使うよりも、精度良くなります。
